The role of the pension fund trustee is a responsible one. Trustees must be aware of their legal rights and duties and also have a knowledge of the broader framework within which pension funds operate. Trustees are not however specialists in any area of pensions management - the effective trustee will have a broad general knowledge and will be able to ask the right questions of the many professionals engaged in the efficient running of pension funds.
